VINTAGE ALLSTARS: WOODEN “GOOGLY EYES” BROOCHES
The Alta Novelty Company in New York City between 1935 and 1945 flooded the marketplace with these lovable wooden brooches - and then they were gone almost as quickly as they came.  They now can fetch between $100-200 per figurine if you can find them - alas, because of their relative non-durability, many did not last the test of time.
How can you go wrong with hand-carved, painted wood with googly eyes attached, however? These brooches have always held a very particular charm for me, and I am only too glad to share them with you.
